There's plenty to keep sun seeking families and couples happy in charming Playa Blanca. Kick back on one of the Blue Flag beaches or stroll along the promenade to take in the views towards the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. There are tons of restaurant and bar options from traditional tapas joints to fashionable restaurants at the Rubicon marina. Whether you've splashed out on an All Inclusive break or you've found a cheap winter sun deal, beach holidays in Playa offer something for everyone.

As Lanzarote's most southerly resort, Playa Blanca is one of the island's sunniest spots. Soak up the sunshine on one of its three beaches, all of which have the resort's signature soft pale sand. Playa Blanca beach itself has a Blue Flag rating and a sheltered bay for swimming. Playa Flamingo is a quiet, family-friendly beach and is popular with the locals. Head to Playa Dorada to try exciting watersports including jet-skiing and pedalo boats.

Head to the nearby Aqualava Waterpark to ride the waterslides, catch the sun on the lazy river or paddle in the pools. Pedalos can be rented from various spots along the shoreline. Take a family boat trip to Lobos Island to explore the stunning nature reserve or climb Cauldron Mountain.

Playa Blanca is a five minute drive from the Los Ajaches nature reserve where you'll find Papagayo, one of the island's best beaches, a crescent of white sand sheltered by cliffs. Lanzarote's capital, Arrecife, is a 35 minute drive away. Here you can stroll along the Mediterranean style promenade and explore the city's boutiques, bars and restaurants. Take a dip in the saltwater lagoon, which is surrounded by palm trees, or check out the old marina with its colourful boats. To see some of the island's natural wonders, head to the Timanfaya National Park where you'll see lava fields formed in the 18th century.

Playa Blanca is best for

Beach lovers - Three beaches line the Playa Blanca shoreline, two of which have a Blue Flag rating. The soft pale sand stays true to the resort's name, which translates as 'white sand'.

Fun loving families - There are plenty of attractions nearby to keep kids entertained, including the Aqua Lava waterpark with loads of slides and pools.

Day trips - Playa Blanca is in a good spot for exploring Lanzarote's southwest coast. It's a five minute drive from Papagayo, a protected nature reserve and one of the island's best beaches.
