For the ultimate relaxing break away visit Matagorda in Lanzarote's sunny southeast coast for a quiet beach retreat that is just a 10 minute drive from the island's capital, Arrecife. It sits at the edge of the lively Puerto del Carmen resort and has a Blue Flag beach that rarely gets overcrowded plus a number of restaurants and beachfront bars. Planning laws restrict high rise development here so it has more of a traditional look and there’re plenty of opportunities to take in the views than its busy neighbouring resorts.
