The shallow waters and sandy beach at Alcudia are perfect for  a range of water sports. Windsurfing, kite surfing and banana boats can all be found along Alcudia’s beaches, and if you want to explore the coastline even further, join one of the boat trips or excursions that regularly depart from the resort. If you’d rather keep your feet on dry land, a fantastic choice of golf courses can be found in the area. 

With a history stretching back almost a thousand years, Alcudia is a great destination for anyone who wants to learn about Majorca’s fascinating past. Walk the length of the 14th century walls, discover the ruins of Roman Pollentia or spend an afternoon wandering through the town’s winding streets, admiring the historic homes and churches. The old town of Alcudia is also home to a number of restaurants and cafes making it a great place for an atmospheric meal out.

Though it has a number of attractions, Alcudia is best known for its beaches. The long stretch that runs along the coast by Puerto de Alcudia is one of the most popular in Majorca and boasts a range of amenities, as well as a great choice of water sports and activities. For less crowded beaches, head away from the town towards Playa Muro or jump in the car and visit the unspoilt sandy cove at Coll Baix, a short drive from Alcudia.

Beaches: Alcudia’s beach is one of the longest in Majorca. With its Blue Flag status, shallow waters and range of amenities, it will make the ideal base for your escape to the Med.  

History: Alcudia has been an important part of Majorca since Roman times. The imposing walls that ring the old town date from the 14th century and you can get lost for hours exploring the town’s ancient streets.

Shopping: If you’re in the mood to grab yourself a bargain, head down to the town’s market and explore the wide range of stalls selling everything from fruit and veg to clothes and souvenirs. Markets are held every week on Sundays and Tuesdays.

Weather and Climate

Temperature: High summer averages of around 29˚C with little rainfall and mild evening temperatures. 

Best time to visit Alcudia: If you want to enjoy All Inclusive holiday deals to Alcudia, the best time to travel is July and August. Long, hot days, clear skies and little chance of rain make the mid summer months the best time for a sun drenched beach break on Majorca’s northern coast. Alternatively, if you prefer cooler temperatures, cheap deals and less crowded beaches, book your break in May, June or early September.

Getting Around

By taxi: There are plenty of taxis in Alcudia so it should be easy to find a cab when you need one. 

By hire car: Hiring a car is a great way to get out and explore the surrounding area. Vehicles can be rented from Alcudia, with an even bigger choice of cars at the airport. 

By bus: Bus services connect Alcudia with Palma, Pollensa and other destinations on Majorca. They’re more frequent during the peak holiday season. 

By boat: Regular ferries link Alcudia with the port of Ciutadella on neighbouring Menorca and Barcelona. The journey to Menorca takes one and a half to two and a half hours while Barcelona is six and a half hours from the resort.


For bonfires: To celebrate the Fiesta of Sant Antoni Abat locals roast blood sausage over a series of bonfires. Held in mid January, this event is a great opportunity to experience traditional life in Alcudia.

For dancing: The Fiesta of the Virgen Maria de la Victoria takes place in early July. Alcudia celebrates the event with traditional dances that carry on till dawn. 

For culture: The Fira d’Alcudia, or autumn fair, is held in the first week of October and showcases Majorcan food, culture and craftsmanship. It’s a great opportunity to sample delicious local produce fresh from the harvest.
