There are tons of accommodation options throughout Spain, from Self Catering properties to All Inclusive hotels. You'll find hip city centre boutiques, tall seafront hotels, farmhouses and everything in between. Some of the most popular beach retreats are located in the Balearic Islands, located off Spain's east coast, and the Canary Islands, a volcanic island group off the northwest coast of Africa. On the mainland, Costa Blanca is hard to beat for its fishing villages turned popular beach resorts.

Whether you're looking to kick back on a beautiful beach, fill up on delicious tapas dishes, see the architecture or discover natural wonders, beach holidays in Spain provide all this and more. From the white sand beaches of the Costa Blanca to the volcanic landscapes of the Canary Islands and all the attractions of the Balearics, Spain offers something for everyone.

Spain is home to some of the world's best beaches including Gran Canaria's Playa del Ingles and the neighbouring Maspalomas sand dunes, a seven-mile stretch dotted with sheltered bathing spots. On the island of Mallorca, Cala Mesquida was once a smugglers' cove and now attracts windsurfers and sun seekers.

From Antonio Gaudi's architectural gems in Barcelona to the artists' colony of Deia on the island of Mallorca, Spain has plenty of arty things to see and do. There are several museums and galleries that celebrate the work of Picasso throughout the country including the Picasso Museum in Malaga, where the artist was born.

Water sports are a huge draw on the Canary Islands. Fuertevntura and Lanzarote have the best surf conditions and Gran Canaria is Europe's windsurfing capital. Hiking, biking and sea kayaking are great to try out in Majorca, particularly around the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. Quad biking is a popular sport in Calpe on the Costa Blanca.
