As one of Europe's most popular places to go on holiday, Crete has an enormous range of different accommodation. You can take an apartment for Self Catering or choose from hotels to suit your budget. With Airtours, you can choose great All Inclusive deals with large resort hotels to help make your money go further.

The great thing about Crete is that it’s so diverse and can offer you dozens of things to do. If sitting on the beach with a drink in your hand is your thing, you’ll love what Crete has to offer. If you have stacks of energy then Crete's attractions won't disappoint you, whether it's taking a trek or enjoying the many water sports available. Shop ‘til you drop, eat until you’re full and dance the night away.

The legendary King Minos (he of the legendary Minotaur, a man with a bull's head) founded the Minoan civilization on Crete and was responsible for building the magnificent Palace of Knossos. This attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year, but other excavations of Minoan culture include the Palace of Phaistos and the Palace of Malia. These are great places to visit if you want to add a little culture to your trip, and you’ll be sure to come home with some great souvenirs and mementoes.

Water sports are big in Crete and you can be as energetic or relaxed as you want when choosing to get out onto or into warm coastal waters. Take a trip with friends and family on a banana boat, potter close to the shore in a pedalo, or try the adrenaline rush of a powerful jet ski.Want to water ski but never done it? Take some lessons. It's like falling off a log. Two logs really unless you're on a wakeboard!

You'll always find somewhere to go for an evening's entertainment that starts with a drink in a friendly bar, then moves on to some Greek culinary delights in a restaurant or taverna. After your meal, head out to a bar or club or just go back to your hotel to relax on the balcony with a glass of local wine.

If you’re on a Self Catering holiday, you can find foods of all types, from fresh vegetables to locally made cheeses and many types of fish. Textiles, embroidery, shoes and clothes stalls can also be found, and the sounds and smells of the markets give a flavour of the real Crete.

For carnivals: These are celebrations of food, music and art, with carnival parades and concerts in towns, villages and cities all over the island. Look out for wine festivals in many of the villages.
