Getting Around

By Taxi: Getting around by taxi can be expensive and fares are best agreed with the driver up front. Airport transfer taxi services can be booked in advance online where you can look for the best price, or have one recommended by your hotel. 

By Hire Car: Hiring a car is a great way to get around Cyprus as there’s a lot to explore. Cypriots drive on the left.

By Bus: There is a large private bus system which is an affordable way to get around, but make sure you have small change.

By Foot: Protaras is a resort town with good footpaths.


Events

For cultural explorers: Just fifteen minutes away from Protaras, at the Ayia Napa Venetian Monastery, an International Festival takes place each year in September or October.   You’ll see Cypriot traditions and shows, folk dancing, theatre and opera; it’s a magical place to experience local culture.  

For film lovers: At the end of June every year is the Protaras Summer Film Festival, where visitors can watch old and new movies on a huge screen outside in the warm air. Free of charge and lasting over a week, this is great fun for everyone. 

For dancers: Protaras and neighbouring Ayia Napa are filled with clubs and bars that host famous DJs year round, especially in the summer months. For those who like to dance through the night, Protaras always has parties and special events that change from month to month.
