The birthplace of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, Paphos has a lot of cultural and historical importance for Cypriots and Greeks, and she’s celebrated everywhere you look. With an old town, ancient archaeological sites, beaches and a modern city centre, Paphos is filled with things to do, see and discover. Shopping and souvenir hunting are fun holiday activities in Paphos’ markets and boutiques, and you’re guaranteed to find some great keepsakes to take home.

Paphos is a great holiday destination to visit if you’re interested in ancient cultures and history. With sites such as the Tombs of Kings, Paphos Archaeological Park, castles and forts, you’ll find many amazing places if you go exploring. The town itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre and archaeologists reckon it’s been inhabited for thousands of years. With plenty of history and local legends, Paphos is a really interesting holiday destination.

Paphos has its fair share of beaches with a long coastline and the warm Mediterranean sea on its doorstep. Many beaches hold Blue Flag status and are clean and safe for families and swimmers. Beach holidays in Paphos are unique as Paphos has one of the most celebrated beaches in the country; Petra tou Romiou is a rock in the sea that marks the place where the Goddess Aphrodite emerged from the sea. Situated on a beautiful and rugged beach, this is a must see for those staying in and around Paphos.

Paphos and its surrounding areas are a great place to enjoy a variety of sports and activities. Water sports are available to do almost anywhere with a beach, from diving and snorkelling to windsurfing and wakeboarding. But it’s not all about the sea. Cyprus has excellent golf courses, bowls, off-road cycling tracks and even beach volleyball. With hot summers, warm springs and mild winters, outdoor sport in Cyprus is always sunny and enjoyable.

Families: Paphos has a little bit of everything for adults and children alike. Nearby waterparks, beaches and friendly restaurants make this a great family setting and the historical sites take school history classes right off the page and into real life.
