Ayia Napa has many excellent beaches and most have Blue Flag status. This makes them clean and child friendly with lifeguards, showers and toilets. With temperatures between 17C and 27C year round, Ayia Napa always has warm waters. The water clarity makes it an ideal place to take some SCUBA lessons or just grab a mask and snorkel and see the exotic fish. With windsurfing, kitesurfing, wakeboarding and banana boating, you’re well catered for if you want an adrenaline rush, and boat tours give a relaxing view of the sea for you if you want to lie back and chill.

Weather and climate

Temperature: 12°C - 33°C. January is the coldest month at around 12°C although it still enjoys lots of sunshine and the summer months of June, July and August are in the high 20s. 

Best time to visit: With warm weather in both spring and autumn, these seasons are filled with sun and have temperatures between 16°C and 22°C during the day. Summers are hot and lively and winters are usually mild.

Getting Around

By Taxi: Prices can escalate quickly with taxis and they aren’t a cheap way of getting around. Airport transfer taxis can be booked online or organised through your hotel. 

By Hire Car: It’s easy to hire a car in Ayia Napa from the town, through your hotel or from the airport. With road signs in English as well as Greek, you can drive on the left and not get lost.

By Bus: Buses are widespread and very affordable. They take longer from the airport but are a cheap way of getting to your hotel and are good for exploring further afield. Take small change and remember that many services stop in the evenings. 

By Buggy: Ayia Napa is a great place to hire beach buggies and travel around in a fun way.


For festival goers: In September you can experience the Ayia Napa festival across the town. This lively and excitable festival is filled with traditional dancing, theatrical performances, street food and lots more.  

For culture lovers: Held annually around late May, the Kataklymos Festival of the Flood is a religious and heritage based festival held 50 days after Easter. Thousands of performers attend each year with shows, parades, water activities and a street fete. 

For night owls: Ayia Napa is famous for its nightlife and clubs are always hosting world famous DJs and events for those who like to dance the night away. Organisations such as BBC Radio One hold parties and shows with each month and each year bringing something new.
