Do you ever watch a film and wish you were there in person? It’s easy for the mind to wander when the world’s most stunning destinations are live on your living room TV. Luckily, many of them are only a short flight away from the UK, so you can visit them on your next holiday. Here are four of my favourite film destinations around the world.
Vatican City: as seen in Angels and Demons
Follow in the footsteps of Professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) and check out the historical sites of ancient Rome. Relive the best scenes inside Vatican City and explore well-known spots like the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona.
Croatia: as seen in Game of Thrones
Who will occupy the Iron Throne? In Dubrovnik, Croatia, you’ll be as close to it as any Lannister! Stroll around Kings Landing and take a guided tour of the Red Keep and the Houses of Undying.
Tenerife: as seen in Clash of the Titans
Live the ultimate struggle of power between men, kings and gods while getting a great tan. The 2010 remake of the 1981 original ‘Clash of the Titans’ movie was filmed in Tenerife. Check out the breathtaking views of Teide National Park.
Crete: as seen in Zorba the Greek
Picturing a dance? Zorba the Greek was a movie shot in Crete in the 1960s, and there’s a famous scene where actor Anthony Quinn dances to the classic rhythm. Visit the film setting in Stavros, Crete and relax on the golden sands beneath the warm Mediterranean sunshine.
