Costa Blanca: a family destination

Over 120 miles of gorgeous coastline, family entertainment, welcoming hotels and friendly restaurants, is it any wonder the Costa Blanca is still one of the UK’s favourite Spanish destinations? 2017 looks like another bumper year for the ‘White Coast’, with millions of sun-starved Brits already booking winter breaks and Easter holidays to this family-friendly destination.

Just over two and a half hours’ flying time from the UK means that it’s close enough to travel to even with young kids. The journey is long enough to be an adventure but short enough to stop little ones from getting bored. And the promise of arriving in a sunny location filled with water parks, beaches and plenty of ice cream is enough to keep tiny tots and younger travellers excited.

Sunshine all year round

Even on a chilly December day when the mercury is struggling to hit 10°C in the UK, it’s a balmy 18°C on the Costa, making this a year-round destination. During the spring you’re almost guaranteed 7-8 hours of sunshine every day, while the sea is warm enough for swimming from March onwards (or earlier if you’re a bit hardier).

While the young and trendy crowd head for the party town of Benidorm, there are lots of smaller beaches and towns all along the Costa Blanca coast that offer a tranquil retreat for frazzled families. Soft sandy beaches and plenty of theme parks keep everyone happy. The town of Javea is a perfect destination for families, with miles of uncrowded beaches, and even a couple of safari parks to explore.

Theme parks and go-karting

If the kids are begging for a day at a theme park, then the most famous is the Terra Mitica Theme Park in Benidorm. You could also check out the Pola Park in Santa Pola, or keep an eye out for go-karting, with tracks up and down the Costa.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet beach holiday or an action-packed theme park break for the family, the Costa Blanca is still one of Spain’s best destinations for family holidays in 2017.
